All the ladies on a budget say ‘hey’, all the ladies on a budget say ‘ho’♪
For some, the phrase ‘budget fashion’ brings around images of dowdy granny stores and K-Mart sales. Not today! Throw those money=style stereotypes out of the window, it’s time to go bargain hunting!
Today, I’ve rounded up the five styles of top that will guarantee you look on point this season! Alongside my personal styling tips and street style inspo, I’ve included budget buys that are all under $70 AUD or less (that’s $55 USD or £37!) And the best part? They still look really darn expensive!
1. The Relaxed Pinstripe Shirt
The perfect mix between polished and casual, you could literally throw this baby on with a bin bag and still look chic. Please note: I do not recommend this! Team with ultra-ripped denim shorts for an off-duty minimalist style or wear open over a bikini when you hit the golden sands. Clash with some chunky paisleys for loud boho vibes. The styling options are endless with this one…
Leandra Medine; I doubt you repel men in this amazing look! You look fiiii-ne! Maybe you stole your mans shirt and wore it better than him?

Not sure if you are Mary-Kate or Ashley, but you are rocking it! Ever noticed how its impossible to tell them apart when they’re wearing sunglasses! Mary-Kate has smaller eyes just FYI.
2. The Off Shoulder Top
The fashionista’s current obsession! Every single blogger on the planet (myself included), seems to be baring a couple of sexy shoulders.
To nail festival dressing in one fall swoop, add a printed maxi skirt. Go for polished with a fitted pencil skirt or team with denim for an effortless win-win.
For this look, I combined my serenity-hued, flowy, off-shoulder top with my fitted, crochet pencil skirt. Check out how I styled Pantone’s 2016 colours here.
3. The Choker Top/ Keyhole neck
You know this cut-out, plunging, key hole-neck style? I’ve seen it being referred to as the choker top or the keyhole neck top. Confusing ey? This, alongside loads of other weird names it’s referred to make it really difficult to online shop for! I remember seeing this style first at Australian Fashion Week last year and now, it’s hot-stuff for this season!
Here’s me in a seriously old outfit post! I think I actually wore this top backwards to get this effect, as I couldn’t find anything with this neckline in stores! You can check out this post that I shot in my garden (yes really) here.
4. Lace Up
If you’ve been reading ‘The Daily Luxe’ for a while, you may remember I did a post on the lace up trend as a whole. Fast forward a season and this trend really isn’t going anywhere!
Take your pick from low plunging lace-ups, to more demure and delicate embellishments. Pair with suede and denim for a minimalist bohemian vibe.
In this outfit post from last year, I styled my lace-up black top with my button up denim skirt. Please note: I have actually trimmed the laces since then!
5. The Boho Blouse
This piece might have well time traveled from 1971, right into your wardrobe! A flowy blouse in a ethnic bohemian print is a must have for this season! Go for a wrap style or an off-shoulder look if you want to be super on-point. There’s only one rule to stick to: the print has to look like it could be in Stevie Nicks wardrobe!
Full blown boho babes can team this lush piece with flares for a 70s look that’s anything but costume-y.
